Hey world Sorry ‘bout the mess we made Sorry ‘bout the CIA Sorry ‘bout the motorcade Sorry ‘bout the everglades Sorry ‘bout the frequent lies Sorry ‘bout the brutalized Sorry ‘bout the merchandise Sorry ‘bout the lullabies Sorry ‘bout the mess we made Sorry ‘bout the DOAs Sorry ‘bout the underpaid Sorry ‘bout the compromise Sorry ‘bout the butterflies Sorry ‘bout the randomized Sorry ‘bout the terrorized Sorry ‘bout the fraternized Sorry ‘bout the mess we made Sorry ‘bout the CIA Sorry ‘bout the Everglades I had a notion, the start of something new You swam the ocean like Doctor Fu Manchu I thought we had it all, right there in our sites You left for Montreal to see the northern lights But I'm a fool for your ridicule And you're so cruel Shuffling through the night Living out of spite Burning like a thousand Fahrenheit Hey world Sorry ‘bout the mess we made Sorry ‘bout the CIA Sorry ‘bout the motorcade Sorry ‘bout the Everglades Sorry ‘bout the underpaid Sorry ‘bout the chambermaid Sorry ‘bout the DOAs Sorry ‘bout the mess we made

Well, my soul says to keep on trying And my goal’s just to stay alive I’m just looking up, like anyone To reach that higher rung On to sanctuary city in the sun And I’ve seen how the dark brings trouble And I’ve heard how the thunder roars I’m just looking up, like anyone To reach that higher rung On to sanctuary city in the sun I respect your Jesus Christ for all that he has done I respect the power of the gun And, you know, I’m looking up To reach that higher rung On to sanctuary city in the sun
3.
Contact Buzz 03:14
I get a contact buzz whenever you come near I get a rush because you charge the atmosphere And it’s like a ride in a balloon Always such a lovely afternoon
4.
Too drunk to care, too tired to carry on Too much is still too much, until it's finally gone That time has passed it's clear our time has gone Too many articles have slipped off of my tongue I could tell you something 'bout those protozoan days When the sad-eyed clowns got in the way Too debonair, too decked out for the prom Too much is still too much to waste it on the young Our time has passed it's clear that time has gone Too many particles have staggered to the dawn I could tell you something 'bout those hacienda days When the slack-jawed dogs got in the way

6.
I asked aloud, I spoke my prayer, I spoke my plea And like a fool, I stood there waiting patiently But no one came, nothing sprang before me Nothing knocked me to my knees, or rescued me Or set me free I stumbled home, I heard a sound so dark and sweet And like a fool, I stood there listening patiently Just wood and wire, just a three-chord rhumba Just a sound I'd never heard, without a word Surrendered me My appeal to heaven echoed in my ears The reply came loud and clear A sound so dear that it's stuck forever here
7.
We're on a trade deadline And the window's closing fast It started out just fine But these things, they never last We're on a trade deadline No more living in the past We're on a trade deadline 'Cause these things, they never last
8.
Rabbit-hole 04:27
Here it comes again, like it did back then It’s just one more condescending smile It’s just one more stacking of the tiles Where the victims lie, under endless skies It’s just one more shining promenade It’s just one more floating masquerade I’ve got thoughts and I’ve got reasons I could list them all I could chant the undertaker’s call All those doubts and all those questions They’re bound to take their toll Stumbling through the dark night of the soul Diving down another rabbit-hole
9.
Lighting sparklers, catching fireflies in the rain A certain feeling that's too simple to explain And I would stay here every night and every day Another summer come and gone Driving highways on a weekend holiday Watching sunshine play a boardwalk matinee And I will savor every time and every way Another summer come and gone And when the cold wind blows the leaves up in the air It seems like autumn's everywhere And when the cold wind blows the leaves up in the air It seems like winter's almost there Lighting sparklers, catching fireflies in the rain A certain feeling that's too simple to explain And I would stay here every night and every day Another summer come and gone

11.
I can’t believe we gave it all to them I can’t believe the bastards won again In times of moving truth We’ve scored a penthouse view I can’t believe the bastards won again No more sorrow, no more closing time No more sadness, no more hills to climb
12.
No fire, no brimstone There’s no need for red-hot pokers I’ll chart my cell-phone To see the world through you And all those unknowns Stacking-up like books on a bureau And all those rocks thrown To orchestrate what’s true
13.
I asked aloud, I spoke my prayer, I spoke my plea And like a fool, I stood there waiting patiently But no one came, nothing sprang before me Nothing knocked me to my knees, or rescued me Or set me free I stumbled home, I heard a sound so dark and sweet And like a fool, I stood there listening patiently Just wood and wire, just a three-chord rhumba Just a sound I'd never heard, without a word Surrendered me My appeal to heaven echoed in my ears The reply came loud and clear A sound so dear that it's stuck forever here

about

A small number of CDs have been produced in special edition custom packaging. Due to very limited availability, the price is $10 with $5 for US postage, for a total of $15 per unit.

US ORDERS ONLY! NON-US ORDERS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!

Bandcamp requires that we offer international orders, but the shipping costs we've included are ridiculously high. We assume no one will be crazy enough to pay for those. Again, we are only accepting orders from US mailing addresses.

Non-US customers should download the digital version and name their price, including free.

Columbus, Ohio residents should avoid postage/shipping costs and purchase via local record stores Elizabeth's, Lost Weekend, and Used Kids.

Long-time Columbus, Ohio combo Closet Mix returns with their fourth release, obviously tilted "04 CD." It follows the "01 EP" (2016), the "Contact Buzz" single (2019), and "My Appeal to Heaven" (2022 single version), now a remastered bonus track included on the CD and Bandcamp versions of this release. Recording started pre-COVID-19, was delayed for a year or so, and proceeded slowly from 2021 to 2023. Former bandmates and current music friends contributed, and a good time was had by all. Closet Mix delivers its Velvets-inspired, midwest-centric indie rock with strong songwriting and veteran-band restraint, informed by decades of record-nerd listening. Sure to be ignored by the TikTok kids, the "04 CD" should provide plenty to like for the band's fellow indie-lifers.

about

Closet Mix Columbus, Ohio

Closet Mix are indie-rock veterans of bands such as Great Plains, Log, Peck of Snide, Househearts, Van Echo, and Vena Cava. They proudly call Columbus, Ohio their home. It would be romantic to think
of them as “survivors,” but in reality, they’re just stubborn midwesterners who refuse to stop making music.
